At Airport

On 17th DEC 2009, our family and Annie's sister Susie's family went to Macau. There were 9 of us in total. Airasia Flight was delayed for one hour and we left Kuching at about 5.20 pm. We reached Macau at 9.20 pm and after the multiple processes of filling and refilling of immigration forms we left Macau and went to Hong Kong at 10 pm by ferry. It was a stormy ride in the ferry, and almost all the children had vomited except Esther and Victor. Arriving at the hotel and checked in at 11 pm and slept immediately after a cup of hot Milo.

Next day, on the 18/12/2009, we went to DISNEYLAND at 9.30am and was told by the tour guide that she will pick us up at 9.30 pm after the firework has finished . The temperature for the day was below 10 degrees. It was really freezing for all of us . Our nose, face, legs and hands were frozen. No place to sit down to rest. All our feet were tired. Do you like to pay for a tour to suffer? Just imagine yourself under this freezing cold condition for a period of 10 to 12 hours on a daily basis. The answer is definitely NO. So do not go on a tour during winter or autumn time. Then, at 2 pm we had our lunch, and the cost of one fried mee/roast pork rice cost as much as RM24 to RM26.

By 3.30 pm, we were really tired and "no place to lay our head or sit". After a while we decided to go to the coffee shop to buy a hot drink and keep our body warm. When I enquired about the cost of a hot drink, (at RM14.00) , we decided to skip it. The staff took pity on us and informed me that there was a shelter behind. True enough, we located the burger shop which is behind the coffee shop and the cost of a hot drink was RM7.50. We stayed there for 3 to 4 hours keeping ourselves warm and had a light dinner there.

Happy Family!

Time passed very very slow while the sky slowly turning dark. We had to wait until 9pm when the final program of firework began. The firework was just ok! After the show, we rushed back to the van and returned to our hotel. We all had hot milo , and jumped into our beds. Remember to bring along 3-in-1 Milo whenever you go for travelling.

The next day (ie: 19/12 ), our tour was in Hong Kong city . We visited the Bauhinia Square and Repulse Bay and other tourist locations, which we did not think it was so great as we were all suffering under the cold weather.

On 20/12, we left for Shenzhen, China, and as usual, we had to fill many immigration forms. Shenzhen is a young city with the majority of the population under 45 years old. We visited the China Folk Cultural Village. However, we missed visiting "the windows of the world" as it was not in our program. At the China Cultural Village, we saw many miniature buildings of ancient China and the various local races groups with their unique houses. The last show started at 8 pm showing the various cultures and beautiful girls with their special effects. To us, this was a good show despite the freezing cold weather. At 9 pm, we went back to our hotel. A hot milo, and a quick shower and jump into our bed.

On 21/12, we travelled back to Macau, once again we had to complete many immigration forms. Before going over to Macau, we visited ZHUHAI and brought to buy silk blankets. By evening we arrived at Macau. In Macau, there are 33 casinos, and anywhere you go, there is always a casino at your door step. We visited the ruin of St. Paul, the venetian Entertainment Centre, delicate local product shop and the Fisherman Wharf. By late evening, we visited the SANDS Casino, but we did not go in as it was almost 8 pm. After that , we rushed back to hotel and looked for dinner. At 10 pm, our family hit the sack.

On 22/12, free and easy. After breakfast, we used the hotel free scheduled bus to go to the Fisherman Wharf to connect to another free bus to the "VENETIAN" Casino. In this Casino, you could do your shopping as well as gamble. The unique feature is that there is an Italy water venetian shopping area where there is an enclosed "sky" and the special boats.

On 23/12, our last day, free and easy. We went to the nearby shops/department stores to do last minute shopping. We had to check out early from the hotel at 1 pm and then waited for our van to pick us up at 3.30 pm and sent us to the airport. The plane should have left for Kuching at 5.35 pm but was delayed for an hour. We reached Kuching at 10.30pm. Glad to be at HOME. HOME SWEET HOME. Nice sweet large beds to sleep in. Nice weather too. Praise the Lord.

Trip to Singapore and KL (PART 1)

HOTELS: in Singapore is rather expensive, if you convert SGD to MYR. (eg: drinking water 500ml @ SGD1.00 OR 1.5ML @ SGD3.60)
We prefer to stay along ORCHARD ROAD, which is the main shopping area. The most reasonable hotels are:
a)GRAND CONTINENTIAL CENTRAL (small room , add a bed if you want) and breakfast provided.
b)SUPREME Hotel, which has 4 to 5 beds room at reasonable price. However, no breakfast and the room look a bit old.
At this time,I am afraid to tell you that HALF OF SINGAPORE is undergoing renovation. Nothing much to see as compare to KL.
FOOD: BREAKFAST or any meals could be found anytime, especially if you are at shopping complexes.
Their FOOD COURTS, are usually at the bottom or top of the shopping complexes, just ask around.
TRANSPORT: In Singapore, 3 ways to go around, which is cheaper than by guided tours ( it could be 30 to 50% cheaper), there are:-
1)By MRT (max per way per person is SGD2.00);
2)By Taxis, only during off-peak period, ie: 9.30am to 5.00 pm)
or else you are to pay extra RM3.00 &/plus 30% of the meter price
best, if you are travelling in agroup of 3 or 4 persons.
3)Use Hub buses, which collect passengers at all major hotels, (SDG4.00 for adult & SGD2.00 for kid per way to most of the sight-seeing places.

We fly to KL (KUALA LUMPUR) on 13 DEC 2008( and spent 3 nights there). that is another story..............
After finishing at the SINGAPORE FLYER, Praise the Lord, we were given free passage back to the hotel by double-decker bus. What a sight to behold, especially at night on the streets of singapore before Christmas .
Inside the SINGAPORE FLYER.
This is the famous SINGAPORE FLYER. Bad luck for tourist who went after us, as there was a fire which short-curcuited the system. Many tourists were stucked inside for quite a number of hours.
These photos were taken at the BIRD PARK. To get there, use the MRT and at the end of the trip, to take another bus no 194. There are a numbers of feeding shows. Ask at the counter, for the feeding times and you could enjoy more (ie: main show, eagle feeding & penguin feeding shows)

One of the photos taken at the underwater sea world.
Going to SANTOSA ISLAND, use MRT to VIVO city and then take a monorail (inside the Vivo city for SGD3.00 per person) On the Island , the place are service by 3 colours buses, which are free. Remember to collect your map, as you could decide where to go . Most interesting locations, you need to pay if you want to go inside. Here is the feeding dolpines show@ 3.00pm (sorry, the dolpines have not come out yet, ha, ha) and this show are grouped together with underwater sea show under one ticket. Rather expensive shows. We felt that the underwater sea world in KL is better.
Another interesting place to see at Santosa Island is "SOUND OF THE SEA", a performance not to be missed. Start at 7.30 pm or 8.30pm (2 shows per day). Special effects with sounds and lightings, etc)
In Singapore, there are few places for sight-seeing, one of them is Night Safari. Special price for Malaysian (ie: 2 adult at special price and 2 kids free). Remember to bring your passports along.
BONGO is at the entrance and we have our dinner there.

Landed at Johore Baharu
THE PLANE..........AIRASIA now everyone can fly, ie: that's us.
We flied to JB on 9th Dec 2008 and went over the causeway to Singapore on the same day by private van (cost SGD 65). Stayed in Singapore for 4 nights .
